Samba is a linux protocol/program that creates a network drive on a 'server', this server could be your router for example, there are plenty of modern routers that support a USB-drive to act as a Samba drive. Download free calendar for mac. The advantage of Samba is that, once connected to it, the PC/Mac will recognise it as a standard drive, regardless of the filesystem of that drive (which is usually a Linux FS, for example NFS). The disadvantage is that it is indeed a network drive, so without the right infrastructure it is considerably slower than a local drive and of course susceptible to 'random network problem events', this is why I mentioned it requires at least some knowledge of networking. Today I was viewing documents on my Western Digital My Passport Ultra 1TB External Hard Drive when suddenly the My Passport Ultra window froze. The strange thing is that now when I use the WD disk utility to test/verify the disk it fails the tests but gives me no feedback as to why. When I use the Apple disk utility to 'verify' the disk it passes all the tests. I have the WD My Passport Ultra 1TB and basically having the same problem, but now the disk icon won't even show on my desktop. It will only show in disk utility. In disk utility when verifying, in red it says 'Incorrect number of thread records' and 'The volume was found corrupt and needs to be repaired'. When trying to repair it says 'Error: Disk Utility can't repair this disk. Back up.format the disk and restore your backed-up files'. Best fonts for websites 2018 mac or pc.
